Portland, Ore. – Today, Will Lathrop announced another stark difference between his candidacy and that of his opponent - the sources of their money raised. 96% of the dollars fueling Lathrop’s campaign come from Oregonians, whereas 45% or nearly half of Dan Rayfield’s dollars come from out-of-state donors and special interest groups.

This is not a new pattern for Rayfield. In August, OPB reported that out-of-state law firms who often apply for lucrative contracts from the Oregon Department of Justice, were giving big to Rayfield’s campaign in a pay-to-play maneuver. This is illegal in other states.

Without out-of-state money, Lathrop would have currently outraised Rayfield by nearly half a million dollars.

Lathrop Total Raised: $1,708,766 (Since 3/2/22)

Rayfield Total Raised: $2,138,928 (Since 10/11/23)

Rayfield Raised (In Oregon): 55% - $1,185,640

Rayfield Raised (Out of State): 45% - $953,288

Lathrop Raised (In Oregon): 96% - $1,637,540

Lathrop Raised (Out of State): 4% - $71,226

“I am proud to be overwhelmingly supported by hardworking Oregonians who are ready for a wave of new leadership,” said Lathrop. “It’s extremely concerning that my opponent continues to take money from out-of-state law firms vying for state contracts. This is a direct conflict of interest and it is unacceptable. If you want to be an Attorney General for all Oregonians, your campaign should actually be fueled by Oregonians.”
