Letter: Lathrop can take on addiction epidemic in Oregon
August 5, 2024
I echo Eli Cohen's concerns about the epidemic of addiction (Letters to the Editor, July 31 edition of the East Oregonian ). Oregonian's have personally witnessed the devastation that occurs when responsibility and hope are cast aside by our politicians.
I have listened to Will Lathrop's ideas for addressing this insidious problem. He has the drive and the heart to work effectively on Oregon's drug addiction problem as Oregon attorney general. His visit to Bybee Lakes Hope Center in Portland was particularly uplifting.
I believe there are constructive, hope-filled ways out of addiction and homelessness. We need to have honest conversations about how we, as a community, can make that happen. Will is a good listener and he has the experience to be part of the solution.
With Will Lathrop at the helm of the attorney general's office, I am feeling optimistic about a solution to this complicated issue.
