The role of attorney general is one of the more pivotal positions in state government, not to be taken lightly, (“Republican ex-prosecutor, former Democratic House speaker vying for Oregon attorney general clash over role,” Sept. 15). The AG is considered the chief legal officer of the state, so we should expect successful candidates to have the background and experience necessary to fulfill that duty.

Will Lathrop is such a person. His working experience is phenomenal nationally and internationally; it parallels all the issues that Oregon is continually facing. We have someone who has the ability, passion and drive to take this on – and he is the only candidate with experience in enforcing the law.

I have done my homework on this race, and Oregon would be so fortunate to have someone of Lathrop’s caliber in this position.
